Olink testing README ------------------------ Bob Stayton 11 June 2004 These directories contain DocBook PDF files that test hot links between PDF files. The fo files were created with a development version of the DocBook XSL stylesheets, and further edited by hand. The goal is to create links that: 1. Use relative locations, so groups of PDF documents are portable. 2. Work over HTTP and in local filesystem access. 3. Link to a specific location in the target document. The three directories here are for the XSL-FO processors that were used to generate the PDF files: antennahouse, fop, and xep. Each directory here contains a file named "mysect1.pdf" that contains a table of hot links to the second file "mybook.pdf". The 12 links in the table use different syntax to generate the link. I'm testing four basic syntaxes: mybook.pdf file:mybook.pdf url(mybook.pdf) url(file:mybook.pdf) Each of these is also tested with two different fragment identifiers: #chap1 #nameddest=chap1 The second one comes from RFC 3778 "The application/pdf Media Type", which borrows from Adobe Technical Note 5428 "PDF Open Parameters" available from . I have tested these links in Internet Explorer 6. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who tests them in another browser. You can test the HTTP links directly from this server. You can also download the olinktest.zip file that has all the same files for testing on a local filesystem. If you care to report your results of a different browser or platform, you can fill in the table below. Please send it to bobs@sagehill.net.
