Truth in Advertising at the Museum of Art and History

In 2007, Bob Stayton approached the management of the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History with the photos he had taken of altered billboards. The Museum staff agreed that they constituted both art and history, and accepted his proposal for a TIA museum exhibit. With the help of museum staff and various community members, Bob assembled the exhibit and it opened on October 18, 2007. It ran until November 25.

The exhibit consisted of twelve panels mounted on three free-standing kiosks that were set up in the Museum's Atrium. The panels showed the before and after versions of the billboards, and told the story of TIA. These photos capture the exhibit's opening day reception.
